A new strategic approach: Aeronautics and Defences

22-08-2025

Press releases

After taking part in the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, the LASEA Group announced their strategic approach to the aeronautics and defence sectors, by promoting unique expertise: the functionalisation of surfaces by femtosecond lasers.

Cutting-edge technology dedicated to performance

Thanks to its ultrafast lasers, the LASEA Group is developing surface texturizing solutions on a nano- and micrometric scale. This technology gives materials such advanced functional properties as:

  • water repellence to limit frost,
  • reduced aerodynamic drag,
  • selective absorption (useful in energy management and stealth),
  • thermal dissipation,
  • improved adhesion,
  • or even noise reduction.

So many applications designed to meet the current challenges in aeronautics and defence: enhanced performance, reduced environmental impact and the intelligent integration of new functionalities in materials.

Le Bourget, a kick-starter for opportunities

The Paris Air Show confirmed a strong trend: laser functionalisation is establishing itself as a key technology for addressing the challenges of eƯiciency, durability and industrial sovereignty.

“Our interactions in Le Bourget showed that surface laser functionalisation is no longer a technology of the future: it’s already meeting tangible needs in aeronautics and defence.”

— David Bruneel, LASEA Group Research Coordinator

Booming sectoral recognition

The LASEA Group was also invited to the C’est du belge (It’s Belgian) podcast, hosted by Xavier Tytelman, renowned aeronautics expert, thus reinforcing its visibility and positioning in this strategic market.

Contributing to European technological sovereignty

By combining ultra-precision, flexible integration and technological excellence, the LASEA Group is positioning itself as a key player in the transformation of hi-tech industries.

This new strategic approach is based on sound industrial experience and a proven ability to transfer innovation into practical applications.
